Here is our travel story:
We started off from Toronto to Dallas and 45 min into the flight a woman (69) sitting in front of us had either a) Panic Attack, b) Seizure, c) Heart Attack. The plane was rerouted to Chicago to land at O'Hare. The woman was traveling with her daughter and grandson. The little boy and the 69 year old had an accident on their seats, so Kerry gave the daughter Jack's pants. We figured we would have good karma for the rest of our flight.
We sat on the tarmac at O'Hare for 2 hours while they took her off the plane, and inspected the landing gear. Regular updates indicated we would be on our way any minute. The landing gear was damaged on landing due to the extra weight we had (fuel), so we were told to get off the plane.
Chaos ensued at the gate as 220 people tried to go through one agent to get rerouted. No one from the airline was there trying to answer questions or help anyone. So obviously American Airlines has no process for communicating to airline customers when something like this happens.
I decided F&^@ the line-up, and channeled my inner Amazing Race persona and went to the courtesy phones and called to get our flight changed. In 15 min, we had a flight to Los Angeles leaving in an hour. It's a good thing most people don't think outside the box!!
We had a great flight to LA, with the kids asleep most of the journey.
We had 3 hour lay over in LA, so we decided to go to Manhattan Beach.
Check out the photos: http://steve.hulford.com , we had a blast. They had public showers so the kids had 1 hour to blow off steam, and we cleaned them up and headed back to our flight to Maui.
The flight to Maui was also great, with kids sleeping most of the way. Jack was now down to traveling in his boxer shorts due Kerry giving away his pants in Chicago.
One last hitch was our bags didn't make it to Maui! I am sitting here writing this in my underwear. Kerry is across the street at a souvenir shop buying us all a days worth of clothes.
Thankfully for me I learned a long time ago to always pack your swimsuit in your carry-on, just in case you loose your bags. This was taught to me when I traveled with swimming, but still comes in handy today!

Kate, Jack and Kerry hamming it up for the camera. We had a 3 hour lay over in Los Angeles, so we decided to see Manhattan Beach. The kids spent an hour burning off steam on the beach.
We cleaned them off at the public showers and were back to grab our flight.

This was a special moment for me. I took Kerry and the kids to the grave site of my late Grandparents Vera, and Patrick Davis. Kate asked some interesting questions about my Grandparents, and we of course had the death discussion. They are both buried on a beautiful hill overlooking the rest of the cemetery, a beautiful spot.
